IMPACT-AI

Advancing Artificial Intelligence in Internal Medicine

Artificial intelligence is rapidly reshaping what is possible in healthcare—from diagnosis and prediction to treatment and delivery of care. Realizing this potential requires more than technology alone; it requires coordinated expertise, rigorous science, and meaningful collaboration.

The Internal Medicine Platform for Advancing Collaboration and Training in AI (IMPACT-AI) is a departmental hub within the Yale Department of Internal Medicine dedicated to advancing patient-centered AI research. By bringing together clinicians, researchers, and data scientists, IMPACT-AI creates a shared environment to develop, evaluate, and translate innovative AI approaches that improve healthcare.

Mission

To accelerate high-quality, patient-centered AI research by fostering collaboration, strengthening expertise, and supporting the next generation of clinical innovators.

What We Do

  • Expert Support
Connect clinicians, researchers, and data scientists to expert guidance on study design, methodology, and AI implementation for new research ideas.
  • Education & Training
Build AI and research skills through structured training, mentorship, and practical learning opportunities for faculty, trainees, and staff.
  • In-Person Events
Facilitate engagement through seminars, workshops, speaker series, and networking events that foster collaboration and idea exchange.
  • Resource Showcase
Highlight tools, datasets, templates, best practices, and exemplar projects that support high-quality, scalable AI research in healthcare.

Who We Are

IMPACT-AI is led by a core team spanning scientific, operational, and data science expertise, supported by a broad network of Internal Medicine faculty. Together, this team brings clinical insight and technical excellence to AI projects and fosters collaboration across specialties.

Our goal is to make AI innovation accessible across the Department of Internal Medicine – connecting people, ideas, and resources to accelerate research that improves the lives of patients
