Adrián Cordido, PhD

I have graduated in Biology from the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) in 2014. The following year I have obtained my master's degree in Biomedical Research at the same university, doing my final degree's project in the Laboratory of NefroCHUS from the Health Research Institute of Santiago de Compostela (IDIS). In the same lab I have joined my PhD in Molecular Medicine (2016-2021) in the PKD field. Since my Master, I have specialized my career in the molecular biology of PKD. Among my objectives is the search of new molecular pathways involved in the process of cystogenesis and the use of animal models for the search of effective therapies for PKD, as well as the study of the genetic interactions of the different genes that cause PKD.

Actually, I am Postdoctoral Associate in the Somlo Lab in the Yale School of Medicine University. The primary focus of my current research is understanding the pathogenesis and molecular biology of PKD. My investigation is divided into 3 main topics: 1) Polycystin-1 function and localization in PKD; 2) Pkd1/Pkd2 re-expression in mouse models and its role and impact in the physiopathology of the disease; 3) Identification of new targets and effectors downstream of Pkd1/Pkd2 inactivation.
