What is your role in the Department of Internal Medicine?
I am the manager of the Department of Internal Medicine residency programs. In my role, I lead a team of nine coordinators who keep the three residency programs running smoothly.
Why did you decide to work at Yale School of Medicine?
I started my career in Boston, coordinating Harvard Medical School students at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. I fell in love with medical education and hoped to progress further in my career. When I moved to Connecticut, my goal was to work at Yale. I was hired as the Internal Medicine Traditional Residency Program coordinator in 2008. I then went on to manage the Cardiovascular Medicine Fellowship programs for seven years. I have been in my current and favorite role thus far for the past six years.
What is the most rewarding part of your career?
The most rewarding part of my career is working with one of the best teams at Yale University. The coordinators and staff I manage bring me so much pride because they work hard and truly care about the quality of our residency programs.
What do you enjoy about working at Yale?
I love working in graduate medical education and getting to know the interns and residents who join our programs. Our residents are some of the smartest, most determined, and most intriguing people you will ever meet. The fun part of my job is that my team and I get to host and attend a bunch of great events for our residents: a winter ball, graduations, a pizza truck in the park, a BBQ for new interns, and more!
What is a favorite pastime?
When I am not working or caring for my two boys, you will find me at my CrossFit gym. I am an avid weightlifter, and I love working out and feeling strong!
