September 03, 2024

On September 1, 2024, on Yale Cancer Answers, Dr. Eric Winer interviewed Scott Huntington, MD, MPH, MSc, Associate Professor of Internal Medicine (Hematology) and Chief Quality Officer for Smilow Cancer Hospital and Yale Cancer Center. Dr. Huntington is a clinician and researcher at Yale School of Medicine specializing in the care of patients with lymphoma and chronic lymphocytic leukemia. As Chief Quality Officer he focuses on inpatient chemotherapy utilization, improved analysis of adverse events, and optimization of end of life care.

“My focus for the last decade has been on looking at when we have a therapy or diagnostic tool that’s been approved and shown to be beneficial to patients in clinical trials, how do we make sure that translates into improved outcomes in routine care and at the population level. ”

In addition to being a nationally recognized lymphoma expert, Dr. Huntington serves as an investigator on clinical trials evaluating novel cancer therapeutics and is an active member of Yale’s Cancer Outcomes, Public Policy, and Effectiveness Research (COPPER) Center, where he leads research focused on improving the delivery of complex cancer treatment during routine care.
