The Yale Program for Recovery and Community Health (PRCH) and Beyond $avvy Consumers will host the online event "Advancing Economic Advocacy and Equity for Justice-Impacted Consumers" on April 25, 2024.
The event will bring together dynamic change-agents from across the country highlighting current initiatives aimed at addressing the unique economic challenges faced by justice-impacted consumers, including barriers to accessing financial products and services.
From research initiatives to financial empowerment programs, workforce development, post-secondary education, programs that provide access to financial services during incarceration, and groundbreaking policies, the event will explore various avenues for progress. The goals are to educate, challenge stigma, promote solutions, foster collaboration, and inspire action.

Beyond $avvy Consumers, founded by Tish Boyd, is committed to closing the wealth divide by empowering underserved communities, particularly those affected by the criminal legal system, through asset based financial empowerment, offering technical assistance, supporting advocacy and programs that promote economic sustainability.
The Recovery Finance project is a R01 NIH NIMHD funded research project awarded to Drs. Annie Harper and Chyrell Bellamy of Yale PRCH that works with community partners across the New Haven region, including the City of New Haven, Winning Ways and the CT Association for Human Services, to implement and test an intervention targeting community level determinants of financial well-being for this population.
Yale PRCH and Beyond Savvy Consumers are partnering to address the financial and economic challenges faced by people with histories of justice involvement, particularly people with mental health and substance use disorder challenges.
