Biography
Evangelia (Evi) Vemmou is a resident at the traditional internal medicine program. She grew up in Athens, Greece and holds a medical degree from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
She was awarded a scholarship by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation and the World Hellenic Biomedical Association to study radiation safety in the catheterization laboratory (supervised by Dr. Emmanouil Brilakis) in Minneapolis, MN. Fascinated by the opportunity to research interventional cardiology and coronary interventions she joined the Center for Coronary Artery Disease (Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation) in June 2019. Her area of research involved complex coronary lesions, radiation in the catheterization laboratory, vascular access during procedures. She has authored or co-authored a plethora of peer reviewed manuscripts in the above areas. Her work has been published in Circulation, JACC Cardiovascular Interventions, JAMA Internal Medicine, among others.
