Biography
Alice Papsun, M.D. is an experienced clinician, educator, and lecturer in diverse areas of the psychiatric field. She received her AB from Dartmouth College, earned an MSW from Smith College, and completed her medical degree at Dartmouth Medical School. She has been cited with numerous awards for clinical excellence and medical leadership over the course of her medical career.
Dr. Papsun had developed the Partial Hospital Program for chronically ill psychiatric patients at Yale Psychiatric Hospital while a social worker. She continued her work with the chronically ill at the Partial Hospital as an Attending Psychiatrist, supervised medical students and residents on the inpatient hosptial and emergency room, was an adolescent consultant at the Cedarhurst School and the adolescent service. She then worked at Yale New Haven Hospital on the Consultation Service for medically/psychiatrically ill patients, always involved in teaching and education of housestaff and medical students. For the last eleven years, she has been the Director of the Psychiatric Counsultation Services for Yale Primary Care Residents and Attendings and continues to participate in the evolution of primary care services to meet the needs of the chronically mentally ill.
Dr. Papsun maintains a very active out-patient practice in psychotherapy for individuals, couples and families in the community with a particular commitment to helping housestaff and attendings from Yale.
