Tampi Named Chair of Psychiatry at Creighton University School of Medicine

Rajesh R. Tampi, MD, professor adjunct of psychiatry, has been named chair of psychiatry at Creighton University School of Medicine and CHI Behavioral Health Services in Omaha, Neb.

Tampi had been chief of geriatric psychiatry and chair of psychiatry at Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital. His first day in his new position will be Jan. 1, 2022.

He is past-president of the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry and is editor-in-chief of the World Journal of Psychiatry. He has received numerous awards for his teaching and clinical skills. In 2021 he received the American Psychiatric Association’s (APA) Jack Weinberg Award, which honors a psychiatrist who has demonstrated leadership and outstanding work in clinical practice, training, and research in the field of geriatric psychiatry. Recently he received the George Tarjan Award. It recognizes significant contributions to the enhancement of integration of international medical graduates in American Psychiatry in 2022.

Tampi is a member of the clinical faculty in the Yale Department of Psychiatry and completed a geriatric psychiatry fellowship at Yale School of Medicine.
