The National Alliance for Research on Schizophrenia and Depression (NARSAD) has awarded 13 grants totaling close to $780,000 to Yale School of Medicine psychiatric researchers.
Yale received the second largest number of awards this year out of all universities and research institutions receiving NARSAD funding.
Yale investigators were awarded grants for basic and clinical research studies in schizophrenia, anxiety disorder, depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder in adults and children.
The following researchers each will receive a two-year Young Investigator award of approximately $60,000: Patrick Allen; Vladimir Coric, M.D.; Carrol D'Sa; Naomi Driesen; Wen-Jun Gao, M.D.;Xingguang Luo, M.D.; Snezana Milanovic, M.D.; Maria Mouratidis; Edward Perry, M.D.; Samuel Sathyanesan; Gilles Tamagnan; Christopher Turner; Pieter Joost van Wattum, M.D.
NARSAD is a leading donor-supported organization funding research worldwide in brain disorders. NARSAD's Scientific Review Council, composed of 75 scientists and academic leaders in all areas of neurobiological and psychiatric research, reviews hundreds of applications each year to find the most promising research proposals.
NARSAD provides important early career support for scientists with its Young Investigator awards, and continuing support for Distinguished and Independent Investigators, expecting grant recipients to play key roles in discovering the causes, new treatments and eventual cures for mental illness.
