Dr. Benjamin Judson has been named Vice Chair of Faculty Affairs for the Department of Surgery, following four months in the interim position. His permanent seat on the Vice Chair cabinet goes into effect on July 1.
“It is an honor to serve in the role. It has been personally and professionally rewarding to connect with so many of the faculty in the past few months, and I look forward to many more opportunities to learn from and work with all of the Department’s faculty,” said Dr. Judson.
In his short tenure as acting Vice Chair, Dr. Judson has played an instrumental role in the design and implementation of a new faculty compensation plan that promotes track alignment, equity, and transparency. He also led the department to an outstanding 100% participation rate on the Faculty Development Annual Questionnaire, disseminated clear role expectations for voluntary faculty, and moderated the Department’s third annual Commencement Cocktails.
“Dr. Judson is a tireless champion for faculty development and mentorship, with deep insights on faculty engagement, mentorship, and coaching. I am delighted that he has accepted the permanent role," said Department of Surgery Chair, Dr. Nita Ahuja.
In addition to his faculty affairs responsibilities, the Charles W. Ohse Professor of Surgery also serves as Division Chief of Otolaryngology, a robust multidisciplinary program with more than 20 faculty leading destination clinical and research programs across the state.
“I would be remiss not to thank the entire Division of Otolaryngology, who has been generous in sharing Dr. Judson’s leadership with the Department. We appreciate your citizenship,” said Dr. Ahuja.
