Lisa Fucito, PhD, associate professor of psychiatry, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Society for Research on Nicotine and Tobacco (SRNT).
Fucito, director of the Tobacco Treatment Service at Smilow Cancer Hospital, will serve as member-delegate at-large on the board. Her term is for three years.
SRNT is the only professional association dedicated exclusively to the support of researchers, academics, treatment professionals, government employees, and others who work across disciplines in the field of nicotine and tobacco research.
The association presents an annual scientific conference where researchers present their latest findings. Research is published in SRNT’s scientific journal, “Nicotine & Tobacco Research,” published by Oxford University Press, for which Fucito is also an associate editor.
Fucito’s program of research focuses on understanding the factors that influence the use and effects of tobacco and nicotine products and developing novel tobacco interventions, particularly among adults with co-morbid substance use disorders and/or chronic medical conditions. She also teaches and mentors medical students, residents, and fellows in the Yale Department of Psychiatry on tobacco use and treatment.
