In addition, a brochure containing a photo and brief biography of each awardee will be created and posted on the CPDD website.

Founded in 1929, CPDD is the longest standing group in the United States addressing problems of drug dependence and abuse. It provides a national and international forum for scientists of diverse backgrounds to advance the understanding of molecular-neurobiological aspects of addictive disorders and, by the application of new scientific knowledge, to improve and develop treatments utilizing novel behavioral and pharmacological therapies.

Bassir Nia’s research interests are primarily in translational research on addiction and mental health disorders. She is particularly interested in the biological effects of acute and chronic stress on developing substance use disorders, as well as the effects of substance use on stress response and psychiatric symptoms.
