    Overview

    ILKe Nalbantoglu, MD, is a pathologist who specializes in surgical pathology as well as gastrointestinal and liver pathology. She focuses on diagnosing a wide range of diseases by examining tissues and organs related to the digestive tract and liver. Her detailed tissue evaluations help guide treatment decisions in collaboration with other health care professionals.

    As an associate professor of pathology at Yale School of Medicine, Dr. Nalbantoglu is involved in clinical and translational research that advances the understanding of disease processes at the cellular level, which contributes to the development of more effective diagnostic techniques. Her main areas of interest are inflammatory diseases of the liver, liver transplant pathology, and unusual inflammatory disorders of the intestine. Her academic role also includes teaching and training the next generation of pathologists. Dr. Nalbantoglu lectures on GI- and liver-related topics nationally and internationally.

    Dr. Nalbantoglu received her medical training from Ege University School of Medicine in Turkey, followed by a residency in anatomic and clinical pathology in St. John’s Hospital and Medical Center, and a fellowship in Liver/GI pathology at Emory University.
