Cho Honored With 2024 Young Physician-Scientist Award

    January 17, 2024

Youngsun Cho, MD, PhD, assistant professor of psychiatry and in the Child Study Center, has been awarded a 2024 Young Physician-Scientist Award from the American Society for Clinical Investigation (ASCI).

The award recognizes physician-scientists who are early in their first faculty appointment and have made notable achievements in their research. The award is competitive; this year, 172 physician-scientists were nominated, and 52 were chosen to be honored.

As part of this recognition, Cho is invited to attend the ASCI Joint Meeting in Chicago in April. She will receive complimentary registration and an honorarium. She will have opportunities to network and interact with accomplished peer, midcareer, and senior physician-scientists. She may also participate in several virtual networking opportunities including panel discussions, peer review groups, and other career development and mentorship opportunities this year and next.

Cho completed psychiatry residency in the Neuroscience Research Training Program at Yale and a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship at the Yale Child Study Center.

Her current research focuses on the development of cognitive and motivational brain circuits in adolescents with depression and adults with schizophrenia using fMRI, and pharmacologic neuroimaging. Her work is funded by the National Institute of Mental Health and the Brain and Behavior Research Foundation.
