Welcome to the Office of the Dean

Founded in 1810, the Yale School of Medicine is a world-renowned center for biomedical research, education and advanced health care. It has awarded 8,697 medical degrees since 1814, and currently has more than 2,500 faculty actively teaching, researching, and providing patient care. The School of Medicine is led by Dean Robert J. Alpern, M.D., who is advised by deputy deans for academic and scientific affairs, clinical affairs, education, and finance and administration.

Office of the Dean

The Office of the Dean staff manage all administrative needs for the Dean of the Yale School of Medicine.


Sterling Hall of Medicine, completed in 1924, is the focal point of the medical campus, which occupies 2.5 million square feet of laboratory, classroom, clinical, and support space.
