Biography

Dr. Kelsey Gray is a cardiac surgeon at Yale New Haven Hospital and an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Division of Cardiac Surgery at Yale University, where she serves as Director of Cardiothoracic Transplantation. Dr. Gray earned her medical degree from the University of Washington before completing her General Surgery Residency at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles. She subsequently pursued advanced subspecialty training in cardiac surgery through the prestigious fellowship program at University Hospitals/Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.

Following her fellowship, Dr. Gray joined the faculty at University Hospitals, where she cultivated a specialized practice encompassing heart failure and transplant surgery, coronary artery bypass surgery, and minimally invasive cardiac surgery. During her tenure, she founded and built the institution's robotic cardiac surgery program from the ground up — expanding it to include robotic coronary artery bypass surgery, robotic mitral and tricuspid valve surgery, and robotic aortic valve surgery.

Dr. Gray's dual expertise in advanced heart failure and transplantation, combined with her pioneering work in robotic cardiac surgery, led to her recruitment to Yale University — one of the nation's leading academic medical centers. She remains committed to delivering exceptional surgical care while advancing the field through innovation, education, and research.
