The 3rd Annual New Haven Health and Wellness Block Party took place in early May as part of the Yale Day of Service (members of Yale giving back to the community). The New Haven Health and Wellness Block Party is a health fair which provides free health related services, education and resources to New Haven and surrounding neighborhoods. Events at the health fair attracted attendance from all age groups. The health fair included the Community Health Care Van, Glucose Screenings, Planned Parenthood, Dental Cleanings, 94.3 WYBC Radio, a Spicy Chickpea Cooking Demonstration, Zumba and more.

Three Yale PA students from the Class of 2016, Trisha Blake, Lauren Bloom and Kathleen Marcinkowski, took voluntary leadership positions to spearhead the 3+ months of planning. Several PA students, Sandy Bach, Marci Elpers, Ethan Kohn, Kara Stencel and Amy Wegesser, supported the various booths at the event. Another PA student, Imelda Mata, volunteered to teach a West African Dance accompanied by professional drummers. The New Haven Health and Wellness Block Party was highly successful in that attendance this year more than doubled from last year. The PA students who participated were delighted to be part this wonderful event which impacted many lives and was so welcomed by the community.
