Overview
Matthew S. Ellman, MD, is a general internist and director of Yale Medicine Internal Medicine Associates. He practices adult primary care medicine, treating many common acute and chronic conditions as well as promoting preventive care and wellness. He tells new patients, “We will work together to provide you the best possible care that meets your needs.”
A professor of medicine (general medicine) at Yale School of Medicine, and director of medical student palliative and end-of-life care education, Dr. Ellman researches ways to optimize training doctors and other healthcare professionals to provide skillful and compassionate care for patients with serious and life-limiting illnesses. He is most excited about new methods for teaching and evaluating competency in the field.
Dr. Ellman says he chose his specialty after “witnessing the enormous benefits of skillful and compassionate care throughout the course of the various illnesses our patients face during their lives.” He gets his greatest satisfaction from patents telling him he has made a difference in their health and lives. Connecticut Magazine has recognized Dr. Ellman as one of Top Doctors in the state.
