Overview
Brinda Emu, MD, PhD, is an infectious diseases specialist who provides care for people with HIV and related conditions, including those at risk for cancers such as lymphoma and Kaposi sarcoma (a type of cancer in the lining of the blood vessels).
As an associate professor of medicine (infectious diseases) at Yale School of Medicine, Dr. Emu studies how chronic viral infections can weaken the body’s defenses and lead to tumor development. She examines ways to strengthen immune function so patients can better manage both HIV and cancer.
Dr. Emu received her medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She completed her residency in internal medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and a fellowship in infectious diseases at the University of California, San Francisco.
