Cardiovascular Medicine
Yale Department of Internal Medicine’s Section of Cardiovascular Medicine shares in the academic mission of one of the world’s leading centers in biomedical research.
We are a diverse and integrated community of nearly 300 clinician-investigators, physician-scientists, and committed staff who make meaningful contributions to patient care, research, and education. Our section continues to grow to build upon our expertise, create new research and clinical capabilities, and deliver world-class care to our patients.
Our extensive research portfolio includes dozens of active grants totaling nearly $245M supporting research across the entire translational research continuum, from basic scientific discovery to population health. We operate specialized research centers that provide extensive infrastructure support, scientific leadership, and research expertise and engage in a broad spectrum of groundbreaking research.
Through our ongoing collaboration with Yale New Haven Health, we continue to grow our clinical programs and expand access to care to more people across the region. We care for patients with common and rare heart disorders and have programs in several specialized areas, including inherited cardiomyopathy, cardiovascular genetics, echocardiography, electrophysiology, heart failure, interventional cardiology, transplantation, and preventive cardiovascular care.
We are dedicated to training the next generation of cardiologists. We have built robust fellowship programs that educate more than 50 fellows each year by providing the academically and clinically rigorous environment necessary to help our fellows and trainees build successful careers in academic cardiology.
