Yale Genetics Interdisciplinary Postdoctoral Fellowship Program

YGI-POD

YGI-POD is seeking to attract and support outstanding scientists committed to cross-disciplinary investigation. Fellows will be co-mentored by two Yale faculty members and will pursue interdisciplinary research of high interest and impact.

YGI-POD seeks applications from soon-to-be or recent doctorates interested in joining our vibrant scientific community. We welcome non-US citizen candidates. Application Process

The applicant will identify two Yale faculty and contact the relevant parties to propose an interdisciplinary project that bridges the strengths of both labs. At least one must be a primary faculty member in the Department of Genetics. Once the parties have agreed to support the applicant and project, the applicant can submit a formal application to YGI-POD.

Award and Support

Selected Fellows will receive:
  • Postdoctoral Associate appointment at Yale. Funding for a maximum of three years, given satisfactory progress upon annual review.
  • A competitive stipend as determined by NIH standard recommendations, as well as health benefits.
  • Additional $5000 funds for professional travel to conferences or other bona-fide research-related travel.
  • Access to professional development and community-building activities, through the Department’s Post-Doctoral Mentorship program and through the Yale Postdoctoral Association.
  • Access to cutting-edge space, equipment, facilities, and services throughout the Yale School of Medicine and Yale University campuses.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must have a PhD and/or MD degree (or equivalent), awarded by the date of recruitment or within the last 3 years, in genetics or a relevant discipline.
  • Applicants do not need to be a US citizen nor already have work authorization.
  • Current members of the Yale community are not eligible to apply.

Applications must include:

  • Cover letter – Describe your interest in Yale Genetics and outline your proposed project and goals (1 page).
  • Research proposal – Use provided project proposal template.
  • Three letters of recommendation – Letters must be received by the submission deadline. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
  • Curriculum vitae – Please provide a current CV, including papers that are published, in press, or deposited in a preprint server.
  • Emails of support from the 2 co-mentor PIs with projected start date.
