Biography

Onyinye Oyeka earned her PhD in health services research and policy from the University of Iowa. She is a health services researcher whose current research focuses on access to, and affordability of, health insurance coverage in the health insurance marketplaces. She also studies the impact of insurance on health. Onyinye has experience in advanced statistical methodologies and conducting secondary data analyses of large-scale data sets. She previously worked as a graduate research assistant at the Rural Policy Research Institute (RUPRI) at the University of Iowa where she worked on a range of projects focused on rural hospitals and peoples. This work included the impact of health system affiliation, Medicare Advantage enrollment, access to prescription drugs, and federal payment policies affecting rural hospitals. Prior to joining RUPRI, Onyinye worked as a management consultant at Accenture where she engineered business process improvement and provided technical assistance for large healthcare systems and insurance companies. Additionally, her work has been published in Health Services Research and Medical Care.
