Yale Surgery is proud to announce Dr. John Morton as Vice Chair of Quality, and Division Chief of Bariatric & Minimally Invasive Surgery for the Yale School of Medicine and the Yale New Haven Health System.

Dr. Morton will join the Yale team in July, 2019, having led Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgery at Stanford University Medical Center. He previously served as Director of Surgical Quality at Stanford. He is the Past-President of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and current national Chair of the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP), a collaboration for 800 hospitals between the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
A surgeon-scientist, Dr. Morton is internationally recognized for his research on quality improvement and the metabolic effects of weight loss.

Dr. Morton’s wife Gavitt Woodard, a thoracic surgeon-scientist, will be joining the Department of Surgery in fall 2020.
