Biography

Dr. Anthony Enzo Seddio is an orthopaedic surgery resident at Yale New Haven Hospital. Originally from Southern California, he earned his bachelor's degree in Exercise Science with an emphasis in biomechanics, graduating summa cum laude. Prior to medical school, he owned a personal training company and gym in Los Angeles, integrating his academic background with a hands-on dedication to enhancing his clients' quality of life.

While earning his MD from Loyola University Chicago, Dr. Seddio built upon his longstanding interest in orthopaedics, focusing his research on novel strategies to improve surgical outcomes. He was the first to publish on the encouraging reduction in postoperative complications associated with the GLP-1 agonist semaglutide (Ozempic®) for patients undergoing posterior lumbar fusion, rotator cuff repair, and total shoulder replacement.

He has authored more than 60 peer-reviewed original research articles, with publications in the field's most prominent journals including The Spine Journal, JAAOS, Spinal Cord, and Spine, alongside over 100 presentations at national and international conferences. His current academic interests center on innovation within spine surgery, including advancing minimally invasive treatment options for complex spinal pathology.

At Yale New Haven Hospital, Dr. Seddio leads prospective, multidisciplinary research focused on optimizing the management of patients with cervical spine trauma. In collaboration with colleagues from Emergency Medicine, Trauma Surgery, Neurosurgery, and Neurology, the team led the development and implementation of the first Cervical Spine Management Care Signature Pathway, which now defines the standard of care across the entire Yale New Haven Health System.
