Seahorse XF Analyzer

The XF Analyzer is the first and only commercially available instrument for scientific research that simultaneously measures in real-time and in live cells the two major energy pathways of the cell: mitochondrial respiration and glycolysis. Since 2007 when its patent was issued, the XF Analyzer has been used in laboratories world-wide to more rapidly and more accurately obtain real-time measurements of cellular respiration, oxidative phosphorylation, motility, and transport pathways. Such measurements would be invaluable in gaining insights into the mechanisms of many diseases, including cancer, that are linked to metabolic dysfunction or reprogramming. Please follow the links for more information about Seahorse XF Analyzer, how to run an assay, and measuring mitochondrial respiration.

Using Seahorse XF Analyzers, we can readily obtain novel and important data from live cells in real time, thereby providing a greater understanding of cell metabolism, and enabling new advancements in life science research.

Seahorse Study:

  • Internal : $300/4 hour block
  • External : Please request quote

Study Assistance:

  • Internal: $121/hour
  • External - Please request quote

Additional study assistance is required for full-service oxygen consumption and extracellular acidification studies, Hoechst imaging normalization and data analysis based on a per hour fee.

All consumables for running the seahorse assays are provided by the individual user and not provided by IOMIC core. Each user is responsible for procuring these items before they sign up for their studies. The Seahorse XFe96 cartridge and cell plates (Seahorse XFe96 FluxPaks) as well as other reagents that are specific to the cell type and experiment must be provided by the user including running assay media, drugs for injections, and prepared injection solutions. For full-service studies with data normalization, an extra charge for Hoechst stain and study assistance time will be added to the total cost.

For more information on planning and scheduling your studies, please email Rebecca Cardone.
