Current Rheumatology Fellows

Graduates of the Yale Rheumatology Fellowship Program

I am a physician-scientist who completed a post-doctoral research fellowship in the Human Translational Immunology program as part of my Rheumatology clinical fellowship in the Yale Physician-Scientist Training Program. This experience and exposure to some of the nation's top basic and translational immunobiologists helped prepare me for my current role in conducting early-phase clinical trials utilizing translational immunology approaches to both better understand disease pathogenesis and to evaluate novel therapies for systemic autoimmune diseases.

Kofi Mensah, MD, PhD

The training I received during my Rheumatology Fellowship at Yale was outstanding. Twenty years into my career, having been on faculty at academic medical centers, in private practice, and now as Chief Medical Officer at a digital  health company, I appreciate the exceptional clinical, basic science and research learning opportunities that I experienced during the fellowship. The training well-prepared me to meet the challenges in these different medical environments. Furthermore, the relationships I developed with mentors and peers at Yale continue to be personally meaningful and professionally impactful.

In addition to teaching us a thorough understanding of rheumatic conditions and underlying inflammatory processes, I was very pleased with how the YALE Rheumatology fellowship prepared me for a career in the private sector. Specifically, I was able to train and learn outpatient procedures involving musculoskeletal ultrasound, and through mentorship, was given adequate exposure to begin the process of understanding coding, authorizations and billing.
