Ms. Moemeka is the Assistant Director of Clinical Research for Digestive Diseases in the Department of Internal Medicine at Yale University. Lesa earned her Bachelor of Science from Central Connecticut State University, Master of Science in Molecular & Cellular Biology at the University of New Haven, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Connecticut. From 1999-2008 she worked in gene expression research at the Yale Keck Biotechnology Core as a lead microarray Research Associate and Clean Room manager. She later went on to focus on Next Generation Sequencing at the Yale Center for Genomic Analysis. In addition to this she worked as a nurse in subacute and psychiatric settings. Ms. Moemeka later transitioned into clinical research with the School of Nursing and then the Yale Department of Neurology on numerous clinical trials on the safety and effectiveness of disease modifying drugs in treating Multiple Sclerosis.
