Application

Applications are invited from physicians who have completed an accredited three year residency program in internal medicine. Yale University School of Medicine and the Pulmonary and Critical Care Division participates in the Medical Specialties Matching Program of the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).

Please note that both the 3 year pulmonary and critical care program, and one-year critical care medicine fellowship (candidates eligible for the one-year program are those who have or are completing another IM subspecialty fellowship) are listed under ONE umbrella ‘Pulmonary and Critical Care’ for Yale in the ERAs system. Once there, the one-year program and the three- year program will be listed individually as separate tracks. If you have any questions regarding the application process, please contact Susan Porto, our fellowship program coordinator.

In alignment with the Association of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Program Directors (APCCMPD), our national professional society, and to ensure a uniform interview process that is equitable to all applicants, our fellowship interviews for applicants in 2021-2022 will be held exclusively virtually. We will not offer in-person site visits. The full recommendation is available here.
