Research Summary
Dr. Jun Liu is one of the leading cryo-electron microscopy experts specializing in use of the Titan Krios electron microscope at Yale West Campus. Dr. Liu was the first to define the structure of the HIV-1 Env glycoprotein on the surface of virions. In recent years, he has structurally defined bacterial secretion machines. These machines inject bacterial proteins into the host to manipulate the host. Thus, they are essential for bacterial pathogenesis including their association with cancer.
