Biography
Dr. Adriana Dana Oprea is dual board certification, both in internal medicine and in anesthesiology. She received her medical degree from Carol Davila University of Medicine, Bucharest, Romania in 1998. Following her Internal Medicine residency at Norwalk Hospital, she completed a residency in Anesthesiology at Yale New Haven Hospital Her area of academic and clinical interest is preoperative optimization, especially for patients with endocrine and hematologic disorders.
She serves on multiple American Society of Anesthesiologists committees on Perioperative Medicine, and is the chair of Society for Perioperative Assessment and Quality Improvement (SPAQI) Guidelines and Annual Planning Meeting committees.
She lectures nationally and internationally on Perioperative Medicine topics (notably on preoperative optimization of patients with diabetes and on oral anticoagulation). She led the development of several SPAQI consensus statements on perioperative medication management and on patients wearing diabetes technology and she authored numerous publications on Perioperative Medicine topics. Dr Oprea is Associate Editor for the Journal of Clinical Anesthesia, section on Perioperative Medicine.
