Nicholas M. Greene, M.D., who has been described as one of the founding fathers of modern anesthesiology around the country and at Yale, died December 28 at age 82 in New Haven.

The Yale School of Medicine Department of Anesthesiology has a longstanding dedication to international volunteerism. Starting with its founder, Dr. Nicholas M. Greene and his dedication to the improvement of the delivery of anesthesia in Sub-saharan Africa, our department has a deep-rooted commitment to the advancement and safe practice of Anesthesiology all over the world.
As interest in global health has continued to grow, there has been much research on barriers to resident involvement. Amongst various reasons, lack of opportunities and the financial implications, were cited as top reasons residents don't pursue these interests. In an effort to support our trainees in the pursuit of global health training, we have verified and created a list of various programs that are available for resident/fellow participation, as well as a listing of options for financial support.
