Sex and Gender Education with Gillian (Not Anderson)

by Gillian Clouser

Hello everybody! My name is Gillian Clouser, and I am a junior in Timothy Dwight College at Yale. I am originally from Fort Collins, Colorado, but have lived most recently in Southern California. I am studying molecular, cellular, and developmental biology and anthropology with an emphasis in medical anthropology. My life largely revolves around different facets of medicine as I am a fertility researcher and EMT. I eventually hope to be an OB-GYN physician, and I am excited to learn more about women’s health alongside all of you. I am delighted and eager to join my wonderful predecessors, and Margaret — my co-writer — in the ongoing conversation concerning the health of women that is “Why didn’t I know this?”.

COVID-19 has presented unique and immense challenges and understandably focused the world on health and health care. As we continue to adjust to changing health conditions, I will share my voice and raise awareness about issues addressing the health of women in the time of a global pandemic. But I will also look beyond the current crisis to examine some of the many ways in which sex and gender influence health and illness.

I hope that you will come along with Margaret and me as we share insights about the health of women by dissecting current research and exploring women’s health issues from personal and global standpoints. I am honored to follow in the lead of other great writers on this blog and to share and educate others about the health of women. Please join us throughout the year as we seek to better understand “what we don’t know” about women’s health.
