Pathways FOR-U Project
Program for Recovery and Community Health faculty Priscilla Ridgway, PhD partnered with staff of the peer run organization Focus on Recovery United (FOR-U) in a DMHAS-sponsored project to train peer recovery educators across Connecticut.
The Pathways FOR-U Project included several steps:
- FOR-U staff designed and delivered an 8 week peer led recovery education group on Pathways to Recovery: A Strengths Recovery Self Help Workbook (Ridgway, et al., 2002);
- FOR-U and PRCH conducted a process evaluation including a focus group of group participants;
- FOR-U and PRCH developed an expanded 12-week curriculum and handouts based on the workbook (Duda, Ridgway, McDonald, & Lewis, 2007), and created an 85 page manual detailing 8 important facilitation skills for peer recovery educators (Ridgway, Duda, McDonald, and Lewis, 2007); and,
- Staff from PRCH and FOR-U, designed and delivered a 5-day statewide workshop to more than 20 peer recovery educators from DMHAS funded agencies in May, 2007.
