Neuroscience Seminar Series: "A Critical Role for the Parasubthalamic Nucleus in Appetite Suppression."

Ingestive behaviors are regulated by a network of appetite-inducing and appetite-suppressing neuronal populations throughout the brain. Recently, our lab and others have shown that a relatively unexplored population of neurons in the posterior lateral hypothalamus, the parasubthalamic nucleus (PSTN), plays a critical role in appetite suppression. This talk will elucidate the role of the PSTN in food intake behavior as well as other related behavioral phenotypes.
