About

Biography

My name is Kesi, and I am originally from Brooklyn, NY. My family is originally from Trinidad and Tobago, and I am a first-generation Caribbean American. I graduated Yale in 2021 with a degree in Neuroscience and a certificate in Mandarin. During college, I also worked in a systems neuroscience lab, where I explored axonal rebranching after spinal cord injury in mice. After college, I spent one year studying Korean at Yonsei University (Seoul, Korea) as a Light Fellowship scholarship recipient. After returning to NYC, I spent 2.5 years working in an immunology and vaccinology lab, working to characterize humoral immunity in humans after receiving vaccines of public health interest (mpox, COVID-19, flu, etc.).

Now, I am back at Yale pursuing my MD and PhD degrees. Clinically, I am hoping to work with kids, but I am keeping my interests open and wish to explore many topics before deciding which specialty appeals to me the most. On the research side, I hope to pursue my doctorate in the INP at Yale and combine both of my previous research experiences to pursue topics in neuroimmunology. I look forward to learning how to combine both clinical and research passions throughout my physician-scientist training at Yale.

Other than science and medicine, I've always loved to read and strongly believe in the power of storytelling. Other things that bring me joy are dancing, baking, watching movies, trying new restaurants, and practicing Muay Thai. I also find joy in the antics of my two delinquent cats, Rumi and Milk.
