Biography
J.W. is a fifth-year MD-PhD student in Dr. Jeffrey Ishizuka’s lab in the Department of Immunobiology at Yale School of Medicine. Originally from Utah, J.W. earned a B.S. in Biology with high honors from Emory University in 2019, completing a thesis in Dr. Renee Read’s lab that investigated a novel signaling pathway interaction in glioblastoma multiforme. He then spent two years in Dr. Sean Stowell’s lab studying translational immunology, where he investigated incompatible blood transfusions and mechanisms of alloimmunization. His current research in cancer immunology integrates multidisciplinary approaches to uncover novel mechanisms of immune modulation to improve immunotherapies for cancer patients.
