GSH as a treatment of acute eye injury caused by warfare agents

HE staining of a WT mouse eye

No effective treatment currently exists for mustard gas-induced eye damage. The goal of this project is to determine whether GSH monoesters (GME) can be used to protect against or ameliorate ocular toxicity caused by the chemical warfare agent sulfur mustard (SM). These studies involve histological, immunohistochemical and metabolomics analyses in a novel ex vivo isolated eye model.
