Human Cell Line Authentication Service

Cost: Please see https://medicine.yale.edu/keck/dna/fees/

Using a Cell Line Authentication service can help to establish the identity of a cell line or confirm that it remains uncontaminated. With the use of the CLA Identifiler Direct Kit, we will perform STR genotyping by fragment analysis. This STR profile will be the key to authenticating the cell line.

For application notes, please view the document found here. If you have questions or need assistance, please feel free to contact us.

Standard Turnaround Time

Standard turnaround time for this service is about 5 business days. (As this is a new service, the turnaround time is a rough estimate.) Yale users will receive priority over non-Yale users. If you anticipate usage, please email the lab at dnaseq@yale.edu to determine kit availability; especially if you are submitting a large batch.

Submission Requirements

  1. Pick up Nucleic spotting cards at Room 2128, 300 George Street, New Haven, CT.
  2. Prepare 40uL cell suspension @ 5 x 10 5 cells/mL in PBS.
  3. Spot 40uL cell suspension directly to Nucleic Card and dry overnight in hood. Package back in labeled paper folder and store in plastic bag.
  4. Send your expected allelic table (in Excel form) to DNAseq@yale.edu.
  5. Place your order in the online submission system and submit your samples to Keck DNA Sequencing. You can hand deliver or use one of our drop-off buckets.

Data Return

You will receive an Excel document of your allelic table for ATCC cell confirmation, along with the .MSA project file so you can visualize your own data.

Data will be returned via Thermofisher Connect. (Users receive 1TB free storage.) Please make an account to be able to analyze the cell authentication data. The account is managed and set up by the individual user; Keck DNA Sequencing Core can only share data to user account.
