Echocardiographic Core Laboratory

The Echocardiographic Core Laboratory (ECL) provides state-of-the-art echocardiographic imaging interpretation and analysis.

ECL director Lissa Sugeng, MD, MPH, is a Yale faculty board-certified cardiologist and a leading national expert in 2- and 3-dimensional echocardiographic measures, having validated many of the newer measures of LV volume and function using 3-dimensional echocardiography.

Expertise

The ECG Core laboratory provides analytic measures critical to the evaluation of acute myocardial infarction in the context of clinical trials. Core laboratory analysis of ECG data provides:

  • Standardized assessment of Q wave and ST-segment resolution
  • Consistent adjudication of interval or pre-existing MI
  • Baseline data for event adjudication during long-term follow up
  • Facilitated assessment of TV/TL relationship in the adjudication of MI and key composite endpoint events

Methods

The ECG Core Laboratory includes trained readers and physician over-readers, and uses standard methods to evaluate ischemic endpoints. The ECG Core Laboratory has passed numerous vendor-initiated audits.
