HIV & Cancer

In July 2022, with support of Yale Department of Internal Medicine and Yale Cancer Center, the Cancer-Infectious Diseases program (Cancer-ID) within the Yale Center for Infectious Disease.

The Cancer-ID Clinic, dedicated to care for patients with HIV who are also diagnosed with cancer, was thus established at YNHH to address health care disparities in cancer outcomes serves as a consultation clinic.

The Cancer-ID Clinic is staffed by HIV providers with an interest in HIV-cancer care, and includes a network of cancer providers, medical/surgical/radiation oncologists, pathologists, and palliative care physicians. This group of providers spans oncology diseases area with a dedicated oncology representative for cancer type, including breast, dermatologic, hepatocellular, prostate, other genitourinary, gynecologic, hematologic, central nervous system, thoracic, anal, other gastrointestinal, and sarcoma.

Research efforts include studies on understanding social determinants of health and cancer care inequities to improve outcomes as well as basic science collaborations to better understand pathophysiology.
