Researchers within infectious diseases are creating and implementing strategies using mHealth or telehealth to prevent HIV in men who have sex with men and transgender women.
Strategies include:
- Promotion of HIV testing
- Apps to promote pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP)
- Artificial intelligence chatbots to promote PrEP
- Gamification of apps to promote HIV testing and PrEP
The team also researches the creation and implementation of mHealth and telehealth strategies to promote HIV and hepatitis C prevention and treatment in people who inject drugs through:
- Creation of differentiated service models in response to COVID-19 to reduce demands on people who inject drugs to engage them in prevention (i.e. Tele-PrEP, tele-buprenorphine, Tele-HCV care)
- Apps to create an Amazon-style delivery model for HIV prevention for syringe service programs in rural and urban settings
