Sumeet Pawar, MD, Fellow, Cardiovascular Medicine

Why did you choose medicine and Yale?

My dad is a pediatrician and my mom is a primary care physician. Seeing them caring for their patients, I knew very early on that I wanted to follow in their footsteps.

Yale Cardiovascular Medicine was my first choice for fellowship because of the wide range of diverse opportunities for academic growth from cutting edge vascular biology research to state-of-the-art health policy defining outcomes research.

What is a fun fact about you?

I have been taking Korean lessons in order to perform karaoke to popular K-pop songs with my wife Minhee Sung, YSM '16.

Perks of New Haven life?

New Haven has great food within walking distance as well as easy access to New York City.

What is your 5-year goal? 10-year? Overall career?

I am passionate about quality improvement and digital health. Currently, I chair the Yale Resident Fellow Senate Quality Improvement Council. We organized Yale's first ever Quality Improvement Night to showcase projects done by residents and fellows across different departments in May. Long term, my goal is to create and sustain innovative delivery models for providing high-quality cardiovascular care.
