Michael Beasley, MD, assistant professor of medicine, has accepted a teaching position at the Yale School of Medicine (YSM). He is one of ten junior faculty members selected for YSM’s Clinical Skills Mentor position.
In this new role, Beasley joins a core group of educators responsible for different aspects of interviewing, physical examination, point of care ultrasound, and clinical reasoning for all medical students. This includes teaching small group sessions during the academic year within the Clinical Skills Course and serving on clinical skills committees. Members are selected based on experience and a high-level of excellence in teaching. Clinical Skills Mentors are encouraged to contribute to educational innovation and curriculum development and evaluation.
Beasley became involved with teaching at YSM in 2020, during his fellowship in advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology. At YSM, he is an active member of the Department of Internal Medicine Diversity Committee. Since joining the faculty, Beasley has committed to educating future generations of medical professionals. He completed a one-year program for clinician-educators, the Advancement of Clinician-Educator Scholarship (ACES) Faculty Development Program. He will present the initial findings from his ACES-related research project, “Shared Curriculum Delivery Gaps Among Advanced Heart Failure And Transplant Cardiology Fellowship Programs” at the 2022 American Heart Association's Scientific Sessions in Chicago, IL.
