The Department of Ophthalmology’s Committee on the Status of Women in Medicine (SWIM)

This group is intended to act as a vehicle for promoting gender equity at the Yale School of Medicine within the Department of Ophthalmology, which is very important. Its work is to promote leadership roles for women, and to be inclusive of diversity that enriches our medical goals of patient care and well-being. In addition, this group provides professional and social support for the women on medical and scientific faculty at Yale; something that is amplified through the women in our department to be heard, to listen to one another, and learn from each other’s experiences. The inclusiveness reaches beyond faculty to residents and medical student trainees, providing role models and mentors for the next generation of medical experts.
