Research Summary

My research focus is in the area of interventional cardiology with a particular interest in transcatheter therapies and structural heart disease. My work in this area has focused on large scale national and international clinical studies. I have served as principal investigator at Yale for over 20 studies in the field of interventional cardiology and structural heart disease, and presently serve as the National Principal Investigator for the Evolut Low Risk TAVR Study and the Low Risk Bicuspid TAVR study. These studies, which have completed enrollment and will have 10 year patient follow-up have had their early results published in the New England Journal of Medicine and JAMA Cardiology respectively, and will be the sentinel studies for our understanding of trancathter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) in low surgical risk patients. I also serve nationally on a number of research and quality improvement groups through the Society for Thoracic Surgery (STS) and the American College of Cardiology (ACC) including the STS/ACC TVT Risk Model Subcommittee and ACC/STS Transcatheter Valve Therapies Dataset Working Group.
