Research Summary

My lab studies the molecular mechanisms of acute kidney injury and tubular cell regeneration and the role of intrinsic progenitor cells in repair of acute kidney injury. Moreover, the lab studies the underlying factors that lead to progression of acute kidney injury to chronic kidney disease.

Extensive Research Description

The following projects are currently ongoing in the Moeckel lab:

1. Role of DDT/MIF2 in acute tubular injury repair and regeneration

2. Role of intrinsic progenitor cells/pericytes in tubular injury repair

3. Role of DDT/MIF2 in prevention of progression from AKI to CKD
