Department of Comparative Medicine

The Department of Comparative Medicine is an interdisciplinary group of faculty veterinarians, physicians, and basic scientists who study animal models of human disease and are dedicated to the improvement of human and animal health through research, training and services.

Research
Research in the department is focused on modeling human diseases in laboratory animal models and diagnosing and treating disruptive diseases that can occur in laboratory animals.
Education
Training in research is offered at doctoral and postdoctoral levels, while residency training in laboratory animal medicine prepares veterinarians for certification by the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine.
Services
Service programs provide essential animal care and biotechnology to the Yale research community. They include Genomics, Pathology and Virology services, and technical support for clinical and basic science research.
