Expanded clean room facility available for cell therapy studies

February 28, 2013

The Department of Laboratory Medicine has recently expanded the Clinical GMP Laboratory, a state-of-the-art clean room facility that is housed within the department’s Transfusion Medicine Section.

The lab has been designed for human cell isolation and manipulation, and is a GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) class 10,000 laboratory, with fewer than 10,000 particles per cubic foot of air.

Specific uses of the facility include cell culture, ex vivo expansion of human cells, immunomagnetic isolation of human cell subpopulations, and gene manipulation for gene therapy.

In order to prepare for the future use of the Clinical GMP Laboratory, the department would like to hear from faculty who are planning to carry out clinical trials or other clinical studies involving cell therapy within the next five years.

Interested faculty may contact Diane Krause, MD, PhD. Please provide a 1-2 sentence explanation of what you are proposing to do, and Dr. Krause will contact you for additional details.
