Genetics Department Seminar Series: "Mechanisms Driving Rapid Genome Evolution"
I will discuss progress in understanding catastrophic mutational processes, such as chromothripsis. This includes recent work showing that actomyosin-based contractility can promote mutagenesis and potentially alter the histone composition of chromosomes. I will also discuss practical implications of this work for CRISPR-based genome editing.
