The ASA Legislative Conference took place in Washington DC from May 16-18, 2016.
CT has a good representation with 10 anesthesiologists (4 from Yale) who took the time to attend the conference and make the visits to Capitol Hill on Wednesday.
The topics that were discussed at the visits with our senators and representatives were
1. Safe VA care, advocating team based care in the VA
2. MACRA- Appropriate timeline for implementation, recognizing role of anesthesiologists and resources to develop quality measures
3. Opioid abuse epidemic- increase patient access to multimodal pain management.
Please consider applying to positions on the executive board of the CSSA, as you can directly influence the future of the specialty. If there are specific issues you would like us to bring up to the senators or representatives, please let us know by emailing Denise Tyrrell (cssa@csms.org)
